Inbound Email Attachments
Retrieve a copy of any file attachment your agency has emailed in to Advance.
When a document is emailed to your Advance inbound address, the attachment is archived to storage as soon
as it arrives — independently of whether Advance went on to recognize and process it as a remittance, a
bank statement, or a plan document. That archived copy is retrievable through the API, so an integration
that already has the file's storage key (for example, from a notification your team received about the
email) can pull the original bytes back down at any time.
How it works
Every attachment keeps the same storage key for as long as it exists. Given that key, the API returns the
raw file — the same bytes that were originally emailed in, with the appropriate content type and a
Content-Disposition header so the response can be saved directly to disk.
A key only ever resolves for your own tenant. A key that doesn't belong to your account, or one that no
longer exists, is reported the same way — there's no way to distinguish "not yours" from "not found" from
the response.
